Version 2.0 in the works
Quote from admin on April 15, 2023, 11:18 pmWe are working on a pretty major upgrade to the Bible College site as well as the Sermon site. We don’t know when it will be released yet but it will provide some new features.
In the new system, we will be able to have volunteer help online to provide some new abilities. Among those abilities will include a push forward to build up the systems ability to search by scripture reference. The system will not only be able to reference recordings by scripture but will be able to take you to a time mark for each reference. Part of this process is automatic and part of it will require volunteer editing.
Another new ability will be for the system to ignore blank spots in the recordings. The recordings were originally done on cassette tapes. On every recording there is a 30 sec. to 45 sec. blank space created when the recording machines switched from side 1 to side 2. Also we will be able to skip any blank area that is inconvenient for the listeners. There are times when classes started late and the recording has 5 to 10 minutes of shuffling papers and people talking among themselves. We will be able to skip these spots.
The system will eventually be able to display subtitles as the speaker speaks. I’m hoping the transcript files will also be available for download.
There will be a new dashboard for volunteers to help do their procedures.
This is an exciting time for the Freely Given Online Bible College site and the Sermon site. I will post news here in this forum.
