We’re working to build effective ways to interact with students around the world. Technology can help with some big pieces but it’s only an anointed Christian that can be effective in producing lasting results. It’s how the Lord has chosen to do His work in this world.
Creating a healthy and informative interactive process is no small challenge:
- Committing to an answer – A student needs to complete the task of reading a question, thinking through to an answer and then committing to that answer.
- Progress tracking – It’s important for students to know that they’re really getting something out of their efforts while listening to classes, studying, completing assignments and taking tests.
- Proof of completion – If we are going to award certificates of completion or diplomas we have to be sure that the student is getting the material into their heart and mind. Rather than rewarding failure we have to correct it.
- Multilingual – Reaching people who don’t speak our language is a challenge that, with the tools available in modern technology, we can accomplish. Even those who are functionally illiterate can be reached by using computers to speak to them in their native language.
- The Great Commission – The Gospel will be preached to the whole world and with the Internet we have a system that makes the Roman road system look antiquated which, of course, it is. Communication no longer requires travel.
For a student to get informative, anointed responses to their questions and test answers at any time of day, in any time zone and in their language there are many pieces of the process have to be in place and working properly.
How, then, can we create a system that accomplishes all that’s necessary for teaching the Word of God throughout the world?
- It’s impractical (to the point of being nearly impossible) to have human interaction with every student in their own language when they require it.
- A computer cannot create an anointed response to a student.
- A computer can, however, provide an appropriate anointed response created and stored on that computer by an anointed teacher or minster.
- We can utilize the Internet and separate, isolated computers where necessary (possibly for the safety of our students).
- Effectively, we can provide an accurate, effective and anointed response by telling the computer which response to send to the student when it’s appropriate.
So, two things are required: anointed teachers put their responses into the computer and the computer must be programmed to select the appropriate response.
That, I believe, is part of what we can do to reach the world with interactive teaching in the Word of God.
